Advertise on Sky

What it costs, which countries it broadcasts in, and how to run your ad on Sky yourself, without an agency.

New advertisers get a 100 euro discount on their first campaign payment.

Sky is Comcast's pay TV and streaming service in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany and Austria, and it is among the Connected TV platforms on the Publicit infrastructure. It is the way to advertise on television in those markets without a local agency: every space publishes its price and you see it before requesting it, on top of the media price you pay a 10% fee plus VAT, the minimum per campaign is 500 total and 50 per day, and you are only charged when the owner of the space approves the request. Sky sells addressable advertising, meaning different ads to different households watching the same programme.

What Sky is and where it is watched

Sky is Comcast's pay TV group in Europe. It operates in the UK and Ireland, in Italy, and in Germany and Austria, and combines its traditional satellite platform with the Sky Glass TV, the Sky Stream device and the NOW streaming service. It broadcasts its own film, series, sport and news channels alongside each country's third-party channels. It does not operate in Spain, so it is a platform for campaigns outside the Spanish market.

The person who sees your ad is the Sky household in any of those countries, live or on demand. Sky has sold addressable advertising through AdSmart for years: different households watching the same programme see different ads depending on their area, composition and lifestyle, which makes it one of the most finely targeted TV platforms in Europe.

How advertising on Sky works

Ads run as video inside the ad breaks of Sky's channels, both live and on demand, and with AdSmart they are served household by household rather than to the whole audience at once. Sky Media, the group's commercial division, sells that inventory in each country with its own deals and minimums, and in the UK AdSmart has been promoted specifically to small and medium businesses that want to appear on TV with contained budgets.

On Publicit, the publishers representing Sky inventory list their spaces with price, estimated impressions, country and restrictions, and you request them from the dashboard with no deal with Sky Media. Location targeting lets you buy only the area you care about within each market.

Which advertisers Sky makes sense for

Sky fits companies that sell or expand in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany or Austria and want to appear on television there without hiring a local agency: exporters, tourism businesses attracting visitors from those countries, digital brands with international customers. Also advertisers in those markets who prefer to buy television self-service. Because you buy per space and with geographic targeting, you can start with a single region of a single country.

Sky is the only platform in this group that is not watched in Spain: its value is exactly the opposite, reaching households in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany and Austria from the same dashboard. And unlike pure streaming platforms, it combines satellite, its own TV set and streaming, with AdSmart's addressable advertising as the usual way to buy, not the exception.

What it costs to advertise on Sky

There is no Sky rate card: on Publicit the owner of each space sets its price and you see it on the listing before you request it. In ad-supported subscription streaming, inventory is priced by CPM, per thousand impressions delivered within the ad plan, and the listing publishes its estimated impressions.

Media cost = (CPM × impressions delivered) ÷ 1,000

On top of that media cost comes the Publicit fee, which is 10% of the media budget, plus VAT on both amounts at the rate that applies where your company is based. The owner of the space receives their full price: the 10% is charged to you, separately.

A campaign needs a total budget of at least 500 and a daily budget of at least 50, in the campaign currency. A specific space can also require a minimum number of campaign days, set by its owner and shown on the listing. You pay when the owner approves your request, not before, and the amount is held in escrow until delivery is evidenced. The full model is on the pricing page and in how much it costs to advertise on TV.

How to run your ad on Sky, step by step

  • Create an account with your work email. Signing up and browsing the infrastructure is free, and requesting a space costs nothing.
  • Search the Sky spaces. Filter by platform, by city or region and by price. Each listing shows the price, the buying model, the estimated impressions and the owner's content restrictions.
  • Set budget, dates and targeting. Campaign objective, total and daily caps, frequency of 1 to 10 days, and targeting by location, age, gender and interests.
  • Upload the spot and request the space. The owner approves or declines it, usually within 48 hours. If declined, the request comes back to you for revision.
  • Pay on approval and go live. The charge only happens with the approval. Then you follow impressions from the dashboard or from an AI assistant through the MCP server.

What a television space listing publishes

Every television space on the infrastructure publishes what an advertiser needs to decide without calling anyone. On a streaming platform like Sky, what matters most is the price and its model, the estimated impressions, whether the ad runs in-stream on demand or live, the content category it runs next to and the owner's restrictions, plus the platform or programme, share, rating and average viewers when the publisher provides them. These are the fields the publisher fills in when listing the space, not Publicit estimates.

The spot you need for Sky

On Sky the ad is a video that runs before the series or film and in breaks during playback, and it cannot be skipped, so you need a finished spot made to be watched on the living-room screen. Publicit validates it against the IAB Spain video formats: MP4, WebM or MOV, as pre-roll or mid-roll, with the exact dimensions and file sizes on the creative specs page. The space owner also approves the creative. Publicit sells and manages media; it does not produce the spot.

Other platforms you can advertise on

The same campaign and the same budget can be split across several television platforms, and across digital screens, billboards, metro, press and radio too. Every television platform available is listed under TV platforms you can advertise on.

  • Netflix: subscription streaming with ads since 2022; not yet available on Publicit.
  • Prime Video: Amazon's streaming service, with limited ads in Spain since April 2024.
  • Disney+: Disney's streaming service, with a Standard with ads plan in Spain since November 2023.
  • HBO Max: Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming service, with a Basic with ads plan in Spain since April 2025.
  • Mediaset Infinity: Mediaset España's platform, formerly Mitele, free with ads.
