What it costs to advertise on TV

New advertisers get a 100 euro discount on their first campaign payment.

There is no single price, and anyone quoting you a flat figure without knowing where you want to run has made it up. What you can do is look: on Publicit each platform sets its own price per space and you see it before booking anything. On top of that media price there is a 10% platform fee plus VAT. Signing up and checking prices is free.

Why nobody gives you a price for television

On traditional television the price of a spot depends on the channel, the programme, the time of day, the duration and the audience at that moment. Rate cards are set by the broadcasters, are not published in a comparable way, and reaching them usually means a media agency negotiating on your behalf. That is why the usual answer to this question is a range so wide it is useless for deciding anything.

Connected TV works differently, and that is why it can actually be answered: every space is listed with its price, and you see that price before committing.

What determines your price

  • The platform and the specific space. A slot on a FAST channel does not cost what a premium streaming slot costs. The price is set by whoever owns the space.
  • Impressions. Most Connected TV inventory is priced on a CPM basis, meaning per thousand impressions delivered.
  • Location. You can target by city or region and buy only the area you care about, rather than national coverage you cannot use.
  • Dates. A space can carry a minimum number of campaign days set by its owner, and a specific timeslot.

How the price is calculated

For a CPM-priced placement the media cost is:

Media cost = (CPM rate × impressions delivered) ÷ 1,000

On top of that media cost come Publicit's fee and VAT. The platform fee is 10% of the media budget, and VAT applies to the two combined, at the rate for where your business is. The owner of the space receives the full media budget: the 10% is charged on top, to you, and never comes out of their side.

The dashboard shows the exact total for your campaign, line by line, before you pay. The charge model is explained on the pricing page.

The minimum to start

A campaign needs a total budget of at least 500 and a daily budget of at least 50, in the campaign's currency. Above that you pay per space rather than per period, so the practical floor is the price of the spaces you book, and there is no monthly minimum or spend commitment. You can filter the marketplace by price and by minimum impressions.

What can exist is a minimum number of campaign days on a specific space, set by its owner. It appears on the listing before you request it.

The platforms you can advertise on

These are the Connected TV platforms available in the marketplace. Real availability and price for each are what you see when you search the dashboard, because they change by market and by moment.

One thing worth knowing: ask about this online and the usual answer is that advertising on premium platforms requires direct deals with minimums in the tens of thousands per campaign. That is true when you negotiate directly with the platform. Here the minimum is a 500 total budget per campaign: you buy per space, and each one's price is visible before you request it.

And you are not confined to television: the same campaign and the same budget can include digital screens, billboards, metro, press and radio.

How to see your own price

Signing up is free and browsing the marketplace costs nothing, so the fast way to answer this question for your own case is to look:

  • Create an account with a work email.
  • Search spaces filtering by your city or region, and by price.
  • Open a listing: you see its price, its pricing model, its impressions data and its photos.
  • Add the ones that fit to a media plan and the platform gives you a cost estimate.

None of that is charged. Payment only comes once the space owner accepts your request.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on the platform, the location and the impressions, which is why there is no single figure. On Connected TV the price is set by the owner of each space and can be checked before booking. On top of that media price, Publicit charges a 10% fee plus VAT. Signing up and checking prices is free.

The price is set per space by the platform and varies by market, format and moment, so the honest answer is that you check it. Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max and Sky are among the platforms available in the Publicit marketplace, and each space shows its price before you request it.

Not to buy the media. On Publicit you choose the spaces, upload the spot and pay yourself, with no sales call. You do need an agency or a production partner if you do not have the spot and it has to be made: Publicit sells and manages media, not production.

The two are not directly comparable, because they are bought in different units: linear TV sells a slot inside a break, Connected TV sells impressions. What does change is that you can start with a single space, see its price before committing, and pay no agency commission or retainer.

When the space owner accepts your request, not when you build the campaign. The amount is then held in escrow and paid out to them once delivery of the ad has been evidenced.

Targeting works at city or region level and spaces are added one by one, so you can buy only your area. That is what makes a television campaign make sense on a local budget.

Check the price for your own case

It is free and commits you to nothing: search by your city, filter by price, and see what each space costs before deciding.
