Advertise on Rakuten TV

The Barcelona-based platform with dozens of free channels. What it costs, who sees the ad and how to run it yourself, without an agency.

New advertisers get a 100 euro discount on their first campaign payment.

You can advertise on Rakuten TV, Rakuten's Barcelona-based streaming platform, without a direct deal with the platform: Rakuten TV is among the Connected TV platforms on the Publicit infrastructure, every space publishes its price and you see it before requesting it. Rakuten TV streams more than 80 free linear ad-supported channels in Spain, with no mandatory sign-up, alongside its rental and purchase catalogue, so your spot runs in ad breaks inside themed channels covering film, series, news, sport, music and kids. On top of the media price you pay a 10% fee plus VAT, the minimum per campaign is 500 total and 50 per day, and you are only charged when the owner of the space approves the request.

What Rakuten TV is and who sees the ads

Rakuten TV is the video platform of the Japanese Rakuten group, headquartered in Barcelona, and one of the few European Connected TV platforms present in dozens of countries. It started as an online rental and purchase video store and has grown towards free television: in Spain it offers more than 80 linear ad-supported channels, covering film, series, news, sport, music, kids and lifestyle, watched with no sign-up or subscription.

It comes pre-installed on many TVs sold in Europe, with its own button on several brands' remotes, which puts it one click away from the living-room screen. The person who sees your ad is the viewer of those free channels, who watches them as themed television, with ad breaks, and who also meets ads in the free on-demand content.

How advertising on Rakuten TV works

On Rakuten TV's free channels, ads run in commercial breaks inside the schedule, as on linear TV, and before playback in free on-demand content. Rakuten TV also operates third-party channels, such as Vevo Pop, Vevo Latino or Red Bull TV, and in 2026 it announced it would bring its FAST channels to Prime Video in Spain and Europe, widening where that inventory is seen.

On Publicit, the publishers representing Rakuten TV inventory list their spaces with price, estimated impressions, channel and restrictions, and you request them from the dashboard with no deal with Rakuten. The listing tells you the themed channel, the channel type and whether the ad runs live or on demand.

Which advertisers Rakuten TV makes sense for

Rakuten TV fits advertisers who want to enter Connected TV with a contained cost per thousand impressions and choose the context by channel theme: film, series, sport, music or kids. Its Barcelona headquarters and its distribution on TVs across Europe make it interesting both for local businesses, which with Publicit's targeting buy only their city or region, and for brands that want to test several European markets from the same campaign.

What sets Rakuten TV apart from Pluto TV is the hybrid model: a rental and purchase store plus dozens of free channels, with third-party channels such as Vevo or Red Bull TV, and a physical presence on European TVs that Pluto TV lacks, with its own button on several brands' remotes. Compared with manufacturer platforms, it is not tied to a single TV brand.

What it costs to advertise on Rakuten TV

There is no public Rakuten TV rate card: on Publicit the owner of each space sets its price and you see it on the listing before you request it. On FAST channels, inventory is priced by CPM, per thousand impressions inside the channel's ad breaks, with a cost per thousand that is usually lower than premium streaming, and the listing publishes its estimated impressions.

Media cost = (CPM × impressions delivered) ÷ 1,000

On top of that media cost comes the Publicit fee, which is 10% of the media budget, plus VAT on both amounts at the rate that applies where your company is based. The owner of the space receives their full price: the 10% is charged to you, separately.

A campaign needs a total budget of at least 500 and a daily budget of at least 50, in the campaign currency. A specific space can also require a minimum number of campaign days, set by its owner and shown on the listing. You pay when the owner approves your request, not before, and the amount is held in escrow until delivery is evidenced. The full model is on the pricing page and in how much it costs to advertise on TV.

How to run your ad on Rakuten TV, step by step

  • Create an account with your work email. Signing up and browsing the infrastructure is free, and requesting a space costs nothing.
  • Search the Rakuten TV spaces. Filter by platform, by channel theme, by city or region and by price. Each listing shows the price, the buying model, the estimated impressions and the channel where it runs.
  • Set budget, dates and targeting. Campaign objective, total and daily caps, frequency of 1 to 10 days, and targeting by location, age, gender and interests.
  • Upload the spot and request the space. The owner approves or declines it, usually within 48 hours. If declined, the request comes back to you for revision.
  • Pay on approval and go live. The charge only happens with the approval. Then you follow impressions from the dashboard or from an AI assistant through the MCP server.

What a television space listing publishes

Every television space on the infrastructure publishes what an advertiser needs to decide without calling anyone. On a free-channel service like Rakuten TV, the listing shows the channel and its theme, the channel type, the content category, the price and its model, the estimated impressions, whether the ad runs live or on demand, the minimum campaign days if any and the owner's restrictions, plus share, rating and average viewers when the publisher provides them. These are the fields the publisher fills in, not Publicit estimates.

The spot you need for Rakuten TV

On Rakuten TV the ad runs inside the ad breaks of a themed channel, like a traditional television spot, so an already produced TV spot usually works as it is. Publicit validates it against the IAB Spain video formats: MP4, WebM or MOV, as pre-roll or mid-roll, with the exact dimensions and file sizes on the creative specs page. The space owner also approves the creative. Publicit sells and manages media; it does not produce the spot.

Other platforms you can advertise on

The same campaign and the same budget can be split across several television platforms, and across digital screens, billboards, metro, press and radio too. Every television platform available is listed under TV platforms you can advertise on.
